Brecht Wright Gander, born in Providence, Rhode Island, is the son of two poets. Having earned a B.A. in foundational philosophy in 2011, he began an apprenticeship in an architectural atelier in New York City. Upon acquiring substantial technical expertise, Gander established his own design/build studio, undertaking bespoke architectural and interior fabrication projects for leading firms in the city.
His creative endeavours span various mediums and scales, focusing on incorporating interactivity, humour, and surprise as strategies to animate the familiar and mundane. In 2020, Gander's work was featured at the Design Museum Gent in "Van Eyke’s Colours in Design." Subsequently, it was exhibited in "Colours, Etc" at the Tripostal de Lille Museum in France. His inaugural solo show premiered in Shanghai in 2021.
